WASTE OPERATIONS LABOURER
Working 40 hours per week, you’ll perform litter control, landscaping, material handling, and other site maintenance duties at an assigned landfill site, as well as receive and prepare household hazardous waste for transport. This role calls for knowledge of reading, writing and math skills, acquired through a Grade 10 education, plus 1 year of experience working with job-related equipment and tools. Knowledge of job-related policies, procedures, standard operating procedures, and safety standards, ISO 14001, relevant legislation, including the Environmental Protection Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act, CVOR requirements, and Book 7 traffic control plans is also required. A skilled communicator, you can assist the public by responding to inquiries, providing instruction and waste diversion program information, and directing vehicles at waste management sites, exchange information with others, and work effectively on a team. Along with having a functional knowledge of the proper and safe operation and use of equipment related to the job duties, you must be able to function effectively and safely in the various environmental conditions experienced at a waste management site. A valid Class DZ driver’s licence and a satisfactory driving record are required to operate Regional equipment. This full-time position involves working Tuesday to Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
